TINES pie and a Boggle win, part one of championship down. BOOM!

Peanut butter pie I made for Sam. It says "TINES" because a couple nights earlier  I'd won  a Boggle game with TINES and I figured he'd want to remember how to spell it. Hehe. He took it well for the most part.

One successful win.
Sam and his support team, Batbear and Therman, feeling distress after a surprisingly strong win on my part.

Part one of the Sam/Lucy challenges is complete: I AM AHEAD! I won 5 of 6 Boggle games. Success. Honestly, it was a surprise--he's the best player I've been up against. He said he has only ever lost to one of his brothers and that I've left him to reconsider his talents in life. Ha.
We have four more challenges in our championship: Magic cards, dancing at Ladies 80s, racquetball and pool. Originally it was going to be best of Boggle, Magic and dancing, but after my win yesterday he panicked slightly and we added the other two for best of five. Hahaha.
We only have about 6 more weeks to finish the championship before he likely moves in preparation for starting a PhD program in clinical psych, which means only about 3 off-spike weeks.

La la la la life is sweet.

Sing it, John Denver! "Home" is everywhere for me, I can feel it. Reminds me of the Rumi poem, "whoever brought me here will have to take me home." What a wonderful, wonderful life!

Tomorrow I am taking Sam on in the Boggle portion of our tournament. We are going to play a total of 6 games, with an intermission after the 3rd in which we are going to eat inordinate amounts of pie and turn the downstairs of his apartment into a giant fort! We had a couple of practice games over the past couple of weeks and he is the first person that I think I actually could lose against, which is frustratingly awesome. We've learned new words: tor, gluier, pho, rennet... there are more, but I can't think of them at the moment. Oh, and whoremaster. WHOREMASTER! Not pimp; whoremaster. Yikes. Today I am going to search for a onesie in honor of Lara, which I will wear during the fort building if I can find a good one. Later on in the week, we're going to create new Magic decks from his 1000 or so cards to prepare for the Magic section of our competition. We also have a dance-off part, which will likely take place after the next couple of spikes at a Ladies 80s. Last night we went to trivia night at the Lumberyard (a local brewery) and our group came in 11th place.. but we won free Lumberyard pint glasses, which they normally sell for $10. The other Sam came as well--his fiancĂ©e, Sarah, was visiting from Florida and we gave her a good ol' Flagstaff time. Totally weird though--she is from Indy, went to IU and her parents met at the IU music school. They're getting married in Bloomington next summer and we talked about Bloomington for a good hour or so and I got to help a little bit with the planning, because Sam knows nothing about Bloomington except for his one visit there. Sarah is currently finishing up her studies in Florida to become an anesthesiologist, but she is obsessed with Bloomington. Made me happy to find somebody to talk with about my hometown! She and Sam don't yet know where they are going to live after they marry--it is likely going to be dependent upon where she can find a position after finishing up her Masters next June. Sam and I are about to be trained as ACLs in a few weeks and we are also going to be chainsaw trained. The other Sam just finished up his term as an ACL. Ack, too many Sams in my life!

Okay, I am off to make pies and find a onesie. It is sunny and going to be 75 in Flag today. Yippee!

Phoenix visit and Flag climb time

only the best, none of the weak or deformed.
Don't run away from this dying.
Whoever's not killed for love is dead meat."
